PSG and Man Utd Preparing to launch bid for Madrid’s Varane
Man Utd are thought to be lining up a summer swoop for Real Madrid centre-back Raphael Varane.
Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in bringing the 19-year-old French defender back to his homeland, although any move from Madrid would cost potential suitors a hefty transfer fee.
Sir Alex Ferguson has been tracking the youngster since his Lens days, but missed out on his signature in the summer of 2011 when Zinedine Zidane convinced Varane to sign for the Spanish giants instead.
However, according to reports in Spain the Red Devils are going head to head with Ligue 1 outfit PSG in an attempt to take the classy stopper away from the Bernabeu.
Varane impressed during the recent Champions League meeting between Real Madrid and Manchester United, and scored in both of Real’s Copa del Rey matches against Barcelona to help them through to the final.
Having made 17 appearances for Jose Mourinho’s side this term, the Portuguese manager would be loathed to lose his emerging talent although Mourinho may be on the move this summer himself.
Varane’s current contract is set to run until the summer of 2017.
