TFM’s Stars Of The Future will now take a look at Algerian youngster Ryad Boudebouz who is making waves in Ligue 1 with FC Sochaux of France.

Ryad Boudebouz is a 20 year old French-born Algerian footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder and is currently playing for FC Sochaux-Montbéliard in Ligue 1 and the Algerian national team.

Youth Career

Boudebouz was born in Colmar to Algerian parents and the youngster grew up in the Europe neighborhood of the city.

Boudebouz joined the junior ranks of local side SR Colmar at the age of 10.

At the age of 14, Boudebouz joined the FC Sochaux-Montbéliard Academy.

FC Sochaux

After spending four years in Colmar, Boudebouz played two more years in the FC Sochaux-Montbéliard Academy and finally made his debut for the club’s reserve side at the age of 16.

Ryad Boudebouz In Action For FC Sochaux

On 15 May 2008, at the age of 18, Boudebouz signed his first professional contract with the club agreeing to a three year deal tying him to the club until 2011.

Boudebouz made his first team debut for Sochaux on 4 October 2008, starting in a league match against Nice.

The youngster then scored his first career goal on 8 November 2008, which proved to be the winning goal in the 2–1 victory against Le Mans.

Ryad Boudebouz has so far made a total of 76 appearances for French club FC Sochaux scoring a total of 8 goals along the way.

He has so far played a total of 12 matches and scored 2 goals in the 2010/2011 season in Ligue 1.

Algeria

Boudebouz was a former French youth international, representing France in the Under 17 and 19 level. However Boudebouz recently switched allegiances to Algeria, his country of origin.

The talented attacking midfielder received a surprise call-up to the France under-21 squad, who were looking to start fresh after their elimination from the 2009 UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship, for a friendly against Denmark.

However, Ryad decided to pass on the offer instead opting to play with the under-19 team who were in the process of qualifying for the 2009 UEFA European Under-19 Football Championship, in which they later progressed.

On 4 May 2010, Boudebouz was named to the Algeria national team 2010 World Cup preliminary squad and was included in final squad for the 2010 World Cup.

The exciting youngster played against England in their Group C clash at the Green Point Stadium on June 18, 2010.

Playing Style

Boudebouz is well known for excellent ball skills and amazing close control. He is also deadly when it comes to set piece situations as he can score from free Kicks.

The Algerian international is also known for his speed and usually outruns his markers. Boudebouz also has good dribbling skills and has the ability to beat his opponent in a one on one situation.

Boudebouz also has a thundering right-foot shot and normally packs a punch with his shot power. With such amazing shot power, the youngster is good when it comes to long distance shooting.

Among the most famous Algerian to have graced the football world is none other than Zinedine Zidane and Ryad Boudebouz has all it takes to be the next best thing to have come out of Algeria.
