New York Red Bulls Wants To Bring In A Designated Player After The World Cup
MLS news are out and it has been reported that New York Red Bulls will attempt to bring in a Designated Player after this year’s World Cup.
With speculation rife that that player could be Barcelona’s Thierry Henry, sporting director Erik Soler played down the rumours but did confirm that a Designated Player could arrive at Red Bull Arena in July or just after.
He added that the people the club is talking to now are not the Designated Player and that it is coming later.
He went on to say that hopefully The Red Bulls will have a Designated Player when the World Cup is over.
Red Bulls captain Juan Pablo Angel was also non-committal about the Henry link but welcomed the talk of having such a star player come to New York.
Angel told reporters that he thinks that it will be great and any good player that wants to come here will be welcome.
He added that if that players is the one the team already know about it will be even better.
Angel also said that if he eventually gets to come it will be phenomenal for this football club, but also phenomenal for this league.
