Oguchi Onyewu Out Of Action For Four Months
AC Milan’s USA international defender Oguchi Onyewu will be out of action for at least four months after suffering a serious knee injury during their 2-2 draw with Costa Rica.
Onyewu landed badly after jumping for a header and immediately called for assistance. He was taken off the field on a stretcher and was later found to have torn a patellar tendon in his left knee.
However it is believed that the AC Milan defender should recover in time for next year’s World Cup finals but his injury is another blow to the US national team a day after striker Charlie Davies was seriously injured in a car accident.
US coach Bob Bradley told reporters after the match that the US national team has had two days of tough news.
He said that Onyewu is such an important part of the national team.
Bradley said that the defender is young and healthy and the team doctors are good but nonetheless, it is definitely another setback for the US national team.
