Barcelona Switch Their Attention To Corinthians Defender Andre Santos
Spanish giants FC Barcelona have stated that the club is now ready to pounce for Corinthians fullback Andre Santos in a bid to beef up their defence.
Local Spanish newspapers have reported that Barcelona are planning to dump talks with Deportivo La Coruna over Luis Filipe and turn their attention to Andre Santos to strengthen the left-side of defence.
It is strongly believed that Andre Santos would welcome a move to Europe this summer and has Italian giants Juventus and AC Milan also reportedly chasing his signature.
On May 21, 2009, he was called up for the first time to the Brazilian national team for 2010 FIFA World Cup qualification and the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup in South Africa.
On June 15, 2009, he made his first international appearance as a substitute in a match against Egypt. He then went on to start the following four games as Brazil went on to win the competition.
